Being a parent influences every decision I make in my professional and personal life. It is the most important and rewarding job I have ever had.
Back in the aughts, I was the lead singer in a band. I was managing complex projects, events, and experiences long before I did it in my day job regularly.
For almost 10 years, I worked as an independent doula, childbirth educator and birth assistant. My values come directly from the experience of helping others when they are most vulnerable.
What does all this have to do with the way I consult? Most clients approach me with a specific course or program they want to develop or improve. Through our work, we might find that it's not just the course or program that needs updating. We may discover a marketing, operations, or even leadership issue that is hindering the project. I'm here to help with that.
I take the responsibility to reduce any harm, that could be caused by systemic inefficiencies, outdated models, and structural inequities that directly affect the human experience, very seriously. I also believe in disruption of "the way things have always been" because most of the time the way things have always been doesn't benefit a majority of people.
I am a disruptor, not an order-taker. My approach is kind and solution-focused, but challenging to ideas of "normalcy". I sometimes like to call myself a "learning experience doula", because I am a guide that gives you tools to empower yourself to meet the goals you set.
You name it, I've probably worked in that business unit over the years. This is what makes me uniquely qualified to consult on learning strategies and ecosystems. I can easily speak the languages of L&D, HR, IT, Governance, Finance, Marketing, and Operations.
I started my career in food and retail services but have worked in or developed learning experiences for a number of other industries. These include the healthcare, banking, manufacturing, advertising, hospitality, pharmaceutical, nonprofit, employment law, broadcasting, insurance, and automotive industries.
I have a strong foundation in trauma-informed leadership as I have been mentored by some pretty amazing individuals in both my L&D and doula careers. Leading projects and teams with compassion and empathy is a standard I aspire to at all times.
My background in music, graphic design, and photography drives how I create and consult on experiences. The work I do is not limited the corporate sphere as I also provide creative direction for a number of passion projects involving entertainers and historians.
“I'm really grateful I could lean on her in a super crazy busy few days, while I was also dealing with upheaval and changes in another major program. She is a rockstar!”
